Attending an information session is a great way to learn more about Hamline’s graduate MFA in Creative Writing and MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults (MFAC) programs.

When you join us for a virtual information session, you’ll not only learn more about our programs, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Meet with program faculty and staff and learn about what makes Hamline’s graduate creative writing programs stand apart, including our published and award-winning alumni
  • Talk with our admission counselors about the application process and make sure you have what you need to get your application submitted quickly and successfully
  • Learn about our scholarships, assistantships, and discounts, along with other financial aid opportunities

MFAC Prospective Student Day

Twice a year, Hamline invites prospective MFAC students to spend a day immersed in the winter or summer residency, attending lectures and panels, meeting current students and faculty, and finding out just what it's like to be an MFAC student. Our next Prospective Student Day will be held on January 17 as part of the 2026 winter residency. 

You can attend Prospective Student Day either virtually or in person. The day will include:

9 a.m. (CST) Welcome
9:15 a.m. Faculty lecture
10:30 a.m. Alumni panel
11:45 a.m. Lunch
Lunch will be included for prospective students who attend in person
1 p.m. Student lectures
2:15 p.m. The Writer's Life – panel discussion
3:45 p.m. Writing the Critical Essay
6:45 p.m. Graduate student readings
