Summer Orientation and Registration (SOAR)

SOAR is the first of two mandatory orientation programs to help prepare all new students for an exceptional experience at Hamline. During this program, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Interact with offices and departments to get your questions answered
  • Meet other incoming new first-year students and the New Student Mentors (NSMs)
  • Connect with the advising staff from the Center for Academic Success and Achievement to better understand the Hamline Plan and course registration
  • Register for your first semester of courses at Hamline

Summer 2023 sessions

Admissions will provide incoming students with SOAR registration information in mid-May. For the most impactful and informative experience, students are highly encouraged to select an on-campus option if able.

Sessions for parents and guests

Parents and families, we have programming for you too! Orientation and registration sessions are a great way to learn about resources available to you and your student, meet other parents and families, connect with the Hamline community, and learn about the support we offer as your student transitions to college.

Parents and guests are welcome to join students for in-person SOAR sessions. Some sessions on these dates will be for both students and guests, while others will be separate. Parents and guests who are not able to attend an in-person SOAR session are invited to attend a live webinar hosted by the Dean of Students, where they can ask questions and learn more about the student transition to Hamline. Instructions for accessing virtual sessions will be posted here in early June.

Parent/Guest webinar 1: Thursday, June 15, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Parent/Guest webinar 2: Tuesday, July 11, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
