About the Young Physicist Camp
Supercharge your ideas! This weeklong summer day camp for students entering grades 9 through 12 combines renewable energy, engineering, innovation, and hands-on fabrication. Explore how clean-energy technologies work, then put your ideas into motion by designing, building, and testing energy-powered cars.
At camp, you will:

Interact with local experts to learn about renewable energy, engineering, and the innovation process, from developing an idea to testing and improving a working design

Conduct hands-on experiments with hydrogen fuel cells and batteries, and use 3D printing to turn your designs into real components

Work with a team to design, build, and optimize two working cars—one powered by a hydrogen fuel cell and the other by batteries—and put your designs to the test through performance challenges

Cost:
Before April 30: $598 per person
After April 30: $698 per person
Registration opens October 26, 2026.
Refund policy
Before April 30, we will charge you a $100 cancellation fee and then refund the remainder of your registration cost. After April 30, we will refund you 50% of your registration cost. After June 30, we will no longer offer refunds.
Jerry Artz STEM Scholarship for Hamline undergraduate students
Those who participate in one or both of our physics summer camps will be eligible for the Jerry Artz STEM Scholarship when they apply and are accepted to Hamline University for undergraduate study. The scholarship may be renewed each year as long as the student remains enrolled at Hamline and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
