Lovina Bhavnani-Akowuah assistant professor of management, presented an interactive teaching exercise, “Emotional Intelligence (EI): An Exercise to Help Students Gain a Tool for Personal & Professional Development,” at the Management & Organizational Behavior Teaching Society (MOBTS) Conference.
The exercise uses four short videos to illustrate the key components of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management.
Through guided discussions and reflection questions, the activity encourages students to explore how developing emotional intelligence can strengthen interpersonal skills, support personal and professional growth, and contribute to effective leadership.
The conference brings together management educators to share innovative teaching practices, exchange ideas, and enhance student learning in management and organizational behavior.
