On September 22, 2026, the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs hosted the Documenting the Impact of US DHS in Minnesota Convening. This convening provided researchers from across disciplines and organizations with an opportunity to share and discuss research related to the effects of Operation Metro Surge.
Dr. Ryan Larson, Assistant Professor of Criminology, presented "Authoritarian Advection: A Spatiotemporal Analysis of Operation Metro Surge in the Twin Cities, Minnesota" as part of the opening plenary panel. This ongoing research maps and models the patterns in DHS ICE activity across time and space in the Twin Cities during the Surge.
