Zaid Alwaisi Joins the Global Engagement Center
The Global Engagement Center welcomes Zaid Alwaisi, who joined the GEC as a Study Away
Specialist on June 4. The position is part-time at 0.5 FTE.
Zaid will be responsible for advising students on study away options and managing the
application process across semester, year-long, summer, and short-term cycles. He will facilitate
pre-departure orientations and post-return debriefing, and will coordinate with program providers
and partner institutions on the placement of outgoing Hamline students.
The addition of this position also allows the GEC to expand its outreach across campus. Zaid
will represent the center through classroom visits, tabling, and the semester Study Away Fair, and
will work with campus colleagues to raise awareness of GEC programming among students.
Zaid graduated from Hamline in May 2026 with a BA in Political Science, public policy
concentration, and a minor in Non-Profit Management. As an undergraduate, he served as a PAC
mentor and Lead Mentor. His interest in study away began with a Hamline course trip to
Nagasaki and continued with a semester at Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo in spring 2025.
Students, faculty, and staff can reach Zaid at zalwaisi01@hamline.edu or 651-532-2800 x2052.
The GEC office is in West Hall 201.
Please join us in welcoming Zaid to the GEC.
