As it has for the past dozen years, Hamline University will be part of the annual Twin Cities Pride festival.
The event is June 27-28 at Loring Park in Minneapolis.
Staff and volunteers will host a booth welcoming attendees and connecting with prospective students, alumni, donors and community members. Visitors are invited to stop by to learn more about academic programs, student life and campus resources.
For organizers, Twin Cities Pride is an opportunity to show support for LGBTQIA+ communities while engaging with attendees interested in Hamline University. Representatives will be available throughout the weekend to answer questions and share information about undergraduate and graduate opportunities.
“It's important for Hamline University to continue its longstanding history of showing up at TC Pride to show past and present students, community members, staff and supporters that 2SLGBTQIA+ folks are valued and have opportunities to thrive here,” said Faith Estelle-Velez, staff representative for Campus Pride and Gender and a member of the planning committee.
This year’s planning effort is led by representatives from Campus Pride and Gender, Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Admissions and Enrollment, and Institutional Advancement/Alumni. Staff and faculty from across campus will support the booth throughout the festival.
Attendees can take part in Hamline trivia and receive giveaways, including keychains, phone wallets, pens and stickers.
Hamline has participated in Twin Cities Pride since at least 2014. The event typically draws between 475,000 and 650,000 attendees each year.
“The hope is to tell the Hamline story to as many attendees as we can and promote our educational opportunities to all prospective undergraduate and graduate students,” Estelle-Velez said.
