Professor Neal was recently awarded a quarter of a million dollars to support teachers in their first three years of teaching. Grant funds will be used to offer mentoring programs for new teachers, especially those from underrepresented groups or shortage areas. Scholarships will also be provided for eligible program participants outlined in the statute who are taking graduate courses toward either an additional license or their first master's degree. Hamline University was one of eleven entities to have received such funding. More information about the Teacher Mentorship and Retention of Effective Teachers grant is available at https://education.mn.gov/MDE/dse/Ind/teachmentor/.
