The Hedgeman Center, Wesley Center, and Office of Inclusive Excellence will host a screening of “Warrior Up” on Tuesday, Nov, 25, at 12:45 p.m. in West Hall 101 in recognition of Native Heritage Month.
The event begins with a brief history of fry bread from Mariah Grant (Blackfoot), co-owner of Trickster Tacos, followed by a tasting of the following:
- Frybread tacos (beef, chicken, and soy chorizo)
- Bison hominy stew with frybread
- Wild rice taco bowl/taco salad
The documentary follows Isaac Garcia, an Ojibwe warrior committed to shifting the narrative around Native experience. At age 11, he launched the Blessing Bags project to support people experiencing homelessness.
After the screening, Garcia will lead a discussion.
