You are invited to a campus screening of From There to There: Bruce Ario, The Minneapolis Poet, October 17 at 4 p.m. in GLC 100E. Co-producers Alex Sheremet and Joel Parrish will discuss the film and Ario’s legacy.
Bruce Ario was a lifelong resident of Minneapolis and a passionate advocate for the homeless, disabled, and mentally ill. After suffering a traumatic brain injury in his youth, he struggled with drug use and behavioral challenges, which led to a mental health crisis, incarceration, and homelessness. With the help of therapy, faith, and incredible self-discipline, Bruce turned his life around—ultimately becoming a powerful voice in American poetry.
Dinner will be provided by Pho Pasteur, courtesy of the English and Communication Departments.
