Hamline Awarded Grant to Support PAC Program

The Minnesota Office of Higher Education (OHE) has awarded Hamline University an Intervention for College Attendance Program (ICAP) grant to support the Piper Academic Community (PAC) program. ICAP grants provide funding to programs designed to encourage college attendance of historically underserved students, helping bridge the gap between K-12 education and students' first year of postsecondary education. In total, 20 organizations received ICAP grants, with funding totaling $2,055,600.

Lisa Nordeen will serve as the Prinicipal Investigator for the grant and will coordinate programming with the Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA) and other campus offices to ensure a smooth transition for approximately 80 incoming first-year students each year over the next two years.

ICAP grants are available to school districts, public and private postsecondary institutions, professional organizations, and community-based organizations. Grant funds are used to provide pre-college services such as academic counseling; mentoring; fostering and improving parental involvement in planning for and facilitating a college education; academic enrichment activities; tutoring; career awareness and exploration; orientation to college life; and financial aid literacy education and counseling.
