Stacie Bosley, professor of Economics, presented two papers at the fifth annual conference: "Multilevel Marketing: The Consumer Protection Challenge." The conference was held in Washington, D.C. and online. Bosley and Tait Nelson '24 presented their co-authored paper, "Detecting Pyramid Scheme Activity with Google Trends Data," published in Applied Economics Letters in October 2024. Bosley also presented a paper co-authored with Reece Thomas '25, G. Matthew Maroney '26, Joe Penders '24, Samantha Snyder Cakir, and Sarah Greenman. The paper, entitled "Profit-and-loss Disclaimers and Disclosures: Testing a Regulatory Framework for Multi-level Marketing," reported results from an experiment conducted at the 2024 Minnesota State Fair and has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Consumer Policy.
