Description: Come hear the MPO tell some legendary stories through music. While the story of Switzerland’s folk hero William Tell may not be well-known, Rossini’s musical tale of the man who led a successful uprising against his country’s Austrian oppressor will instead have you imagining the more recognizable story of the Lone Ranger. Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite creatively blends the orchestra’s instruments to evoke the tales of Sleeping Beauty, Tom Thumb, Beauty and the Beast. To round out this concert of heroic proportions, the MPO will play Metropolis Symphony by American composer Michael Daugherty, which was inspired by that superhero from Krypton, Superman.
