Malaak Khattab is a Communications Specialist in Hamline University’s Marketing and Communication Department, where she develops and shares stories that highlight the accomplishments and experiences of Hamline’s students, faculty, and staff.

Before joining Hamline, Malaak built a diverse background in journalism and event management. She served as an event manager in northern Minnesota, coordinating large-scale events and collaborating with community partners.

She also spent several years as a multimedia journalist at ABC57 News in southern Indiana, where her work contributed to two Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards recognizing the newsroom’s dedication to community-focused reporting. Earlier, she reported and filled in as an anchor at Lakeland PBS in northern Minnesota and gained international experience working with media agencies in Dubai.

During her reporting career, Malaak covered a wide range of stories, including breaking news, education, community features, and ongoing coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic. These experiences shaped her approach to storytelling, emphasizing clarity, context, and empathy.

Malaak holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications with a concentration in Journalism from the American University of Sharjah. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and exploring new coffee shops.
