Katherine Jumbe is the director of TRIO Student Support Services, Hamline’s academic and career advising program for first-generation students, students from low-income households, and students with disabilities. In this role, Katherine works to create spaces and opportunities where TRIO students feel academically empowered, rooted in a caring community, and excited about the possibilities of college life and beyond.

Prior to Hamline, Katherine worked in a variety of roles in higher education and the nonprofit sector, including as an Assistant Dean of Admissions at Carleton College, a program manager for the City of St. Paul’s Right Track initiative, and a program manager for College Access Plan in Pasadena, CA. She is also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer.

She majored in English at Carleton College and holds an MA in education from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Her favorite undergraduate courses were Novels of Place; Literature, Authority, & Social Change; and Schooling & Opportunity. A lifelong and happy reader, she also loves music, writing, hiking, road trips, and chocolate chip cookies.
