Alex Focke serves as the Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics at Hamline University. In this capacity, he oversees 20 varsity athletic teams. He works closely with his coaches, staff and student-athletes as they compete in NCAA Division III athletics. He is also responsible for NCAA compliance and eligibility requirements.

Focke has been at Hamline University for 10 years. He has previously served as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach (2013-2017) and the Head Women's Basketball Coach (2017-2023). As the Head Women's Basketball Coach, he led the Pipers to two of the most successful seasons in program history, which included a program-record 19 wins in 2021-22 and their highest MIAC Tournament seed (#3) ever in 2022-23.

Focke received his undergraduate degree in Communication Studies from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and his master's degree in Sport Pedagogy from South Dakota State University. He resides in St. Paul, MN with his wife, Nicole, and their three children, Franklin, Charlie and Sloane.
