Ahmed Thabet serves as Associate Vice President for Human Resources at Hamline University, leading university-wide people strategy, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, compensation, and labor and employee relations. He advises executive leadership on workforce risk, institutional culture, and sustainable performance.
With more than a decade of experience across higher education, Minnesota state government, and Fortune 500 organizations, Ahmed has led HR teams, managed a multimillion-dollar budget, advised governing boards, advanced compensation equity, directed complex investigations, and guided organizational transformation across workforces of up to 13,000 employees.
Before joining Hamline, he served as Director of Human Resources for the Perpich Center for Arts Education and held HR transformation and consulting roles at Xcel Energy and Comcast.
Ahmed holds the SHRM-SCP certification and is a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Hamline and is pursuing an MBA. His leadership philosophy combines principled executive judgment with technology and workforce analytics to anticipate risk, strengthen institutional trust, and deliver measurable results.
