WHAT: COVID-19 saliva testing on campus

WHEN: Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

WHERE: Walker Field House (enter through the main doors of Walker, on the mall)


Hamline University, in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Health and Vault Health, will hold COVID-19 testing events on Thursday, April 15 in Walker Fieldhouse.


Testing is available for all members of the Hamline community including students, faculty, and staff.


In addition to voluntary testing, Counseling and Health Services will conduct surveillance testing on a randomly chosen subset of Hamline students. Surveillance testing helps us to understand the current prevalence of COVID-19 circulating in our community. Students chosen for the surveillance testing should have received an invitation to schedule an appointment. If you are currently experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, please contact Counseling & Health Services (for students) or go to the community testing website linked here for more immediate testing options.


About the test
This is a saliva test (you spit into a small vial) that provides a 99% accuracy rate. Results will be sent via email within 24-72 hours. The test is administered by Vault Health.


The test is free. You will be asked for your insurance card, but it is not required and you do not need to provide that information to Vault.

Instructions for testing

  • Do NOT eat, drink, smoke, or chew gum 30 minutes prior to testing.
  • Bring a smartphone to complete the registration/testing process.
  • Bring your Hamline ID to check in.
  • Wear a mask to the testing site and keep it on the entire time (lifting it up to spit into the vial).

After the test

Test results will be emailed to you within 48 hours.


Participants will be asked to submit their results confidentially to aid with surveillance efforts about the prevalence of COVID-19 on campus. You will receive an email from Counseling and Health Services after the testing event, asking you to submit your test results as part of the event.


If you receive a positive test results, students can report results here and staff and faculty can report here.
