Linnette Werner, Professor of Leadership Studies, and David Hellstrom, Adjunct Professor of Leadership, have collaborated with local artists and community leaders on Who We Are: Stories from the Surge, an original documentary-theater production appearing in the 2026 Minnesota Fringe Festival.
Based on interviews with people significantly affected by Operation Metro Surge, the production shares true stories of individuals who confronted extraordinary circumstances, cared for their neighbors, and worked together to support their communities. Through these stories, the show explores what everyday leadership looks like during a crisis and demonstrates the power of communities coming together with courage, compassion, and resilience.
Werner appears as a performer, and Hellstrom serves as a co-producer and writer.
