ITS will automatically upgrade all staff and faculty Windows computers to the most recent version of Windows 11 in two waves during the first full weeks in June:   Tuesday, June 2nd, starting at 12:01 AM Windows computers with 6-digit node numbers starting with “25” or “26”   Thursday, June 7th, starting at 12:01 AM Windows computers with 6-digit node numbers starting with “22”, “23”, or “24”   Your computer’s 6-digit node number appears on a white adhesive label on its case.  Be sure to check the node number on your computer and not your monitor.   To prepare, please sign out of your computer, but keep your computer powered-on the evening prior to your scheduled upgrade (i.e., Monday evening June 1 or Wednesday evening, June 6th, depending upon your computer’s node number). The OS and software upgrades should automatically complete before 7 AM the following morning.   What to expect
  • Early morning upgrades | Both upgrade waves will occur during the early morning hours to minimize disruption to your workflow. Please be sure to sign out of your computer and leave it running before the scheduled upgrade for your device.
  • Temporary downtime | During the upgrade process your workstation may experience brief periods of downtime. We strive to keep this downtime to a minimum.
  • Data backup | Before the upgrade, it is strongly recommended that you back up any important data or files stored on your computer to your Google Drive.
