Biography

Elana K. Arnold is the author of eight novels for young adults and middle grade readers, with one YA novel and two picture books forthcoming. Her most recent novel, What Girls Are Made Of, was a finalist for the 2017 National Book Award in Young People’s Literature. Her other books have been listed on numerous Best lists and earned many awards, including a Junior Library Guild Selection, an ALAN pick, an Amelia Bloomer Project book, a Westchester Fiction Award, a Bank Street Book of the Year, and a Gold Medal in the Moonbeam Children’s Book Award.

Elana has a Master’s degree in creative writing/fiction from the University of California/Davis where she has taught creative writing and adolescent literature. She lives in southern California with her family.
