Dr. Elijah Anderson, Sterling Professor of Sociology and African American Studies at Yale University will be at Hamline on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 7 - 9 p.m. in the Klas Center, Kay Fredericks Room, for a public lecture, The Art and Science of Urban Ethnography. Anderson, a leading urban ethnographer, will explore how everyday life of cities shapes urban spaces and reveals deeper insights about race, inequality, and community in contemporary America.
His talk draws on decades of fieldwork and includes a Q&A. Dr. Anderson’s visit is part of the Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar Series and is co-sponsored by Hamline’s Department of Criminal Justice and Forensic Science and Department of Social Justice and Social Change.
