Program requirements

TRiO Student Support Services requires all students to participate in key activities. These requirements allow advisors to build meaningful relationships with participants and provide the best level of support.

Required activities (annual)

First-year students and sophomores

  • 5 check-ins with your advisor
  • 8 cohort check-ins
  • 2 workshops
  • 2 social events
  • 1 orientation/retreat (first-year students only)

Juniors and seniors

  • 5 check-ins with your advisor
  • 2 workshops
  • 2 junior/senior class gatherings

Optional activities

  • Study groups
  • Reading hours
  • Academic, career, and financial literacy workshops
  • Social events
  • Off-campus retreat (sophomores/juniors)
  • Grad school visits (juniors/seniors)
  • Graduation celebration (seniors)
