• Department Scholarships: Art

    Hamline’s Art Scholarship is designed to encourage students with a demonstrated aptitude for studio art. This award can be renewed for three years if eligibility requirements are met.


    Transfer Spring 2021 student application deadline: January 5, 2021

    First-Year student application deadline: February 15, 2021 

    Transfer Fall 2021 student application deadline: May 1, 2021

    Scholarship Criteria

    Admitted students applying for this scholarship will be reviewed based on their art portfolio and how they communicate their passion for art through the required materials for this scholarship. A major in Studio Art is required to maintain this scholarship. Students must also maintain a 3.0 GPA.

    All required materials for admission to Hamline University must be submitted before applying for departmental scholarships. Scholarship applications and materials received after the deadline will not be considered. Scholarships are only awarded to students who have received an offer of admission from Hamline University.

    How to Maintain this Scholarship

    To maintain this scholarship annually, the scholarship recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA and declare a major in Studio Art by the end of their sophomore year at Hamline.

    Required materials

    : A digital submission of a minimum of five with a maximum of 15 works of original 2-D or 3-D art. The work submitted may be from any year in high school or college, and may be works completed in art classes or on your own time.

    : Discuss one or more of your submissions, including the artistic process, the inspiration behind the submission, what was learned from it, and how you are convinced art will be a part of your life.
