    Application Checklist for First-Year Students

    Complete the checklist below when you apply to Hamline University.

    1. First Year application

    Complete an application and submit it to Hamline University. Online applications are automatically sent to our admission office. You may complete a paper application and mail it in to our office.

    2. Academic records

    Submit an official high school transcript, including a list of senior courses. Transcripts must be sent directly from your school. 

    3. Test scores

    Send your ACT or SAT scores to Hamline. These may be listed on your official transcript sent to Hamline by your high school. To send scores directly from the testing organization, include the following codes:

    1. ACT: 2114
    2. SAT: 6265

    4. Teacher recommendation forms

    Have at least one letter of recommendation describing your academic and leadership record and potential from your guidance counselor and/or an academic teacher sent directly to Hamline.

    Application Deadlines

    November 1: Early Decision
    All application materials due November 1. This is a binding application process; if you are admitted you agree to attend Hamline.

    December 1: Early Action
    All application materials due December 1. Decisions will be mailed by December 20. Hamline's early action program is non-binding; you may apply to other colleges.

    January 15: Regular Decision
    Complete your application by January 15 and receive admission and financial information in time to attend all spring events.

    After January 15 (as space is available): Rolling Admission
    Completed applications submitted after January 15 will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

    Admitted applicants must submit a $400 deposit to reserve a place in the class. Deposits must be postmarked by May 1, which is the National Reply Date. The deposit is credited towards your fall tuition payment.


     First year: 

    Early Decision: November 1
    Early Action: December 1  

    Regular Decision: January 15
    Rolling Admission thereafter (as space is available) 


    Fall: February 1
    Spring: November 1


    Spring Early Action: November 15
    Spring Regular: January 10
    Fall Early Action: March 15
    Fall Regular: August 1 (extended to August 12, rolling admission afterwards. Call the admission office if you are still interested in applying)

    TOEFL: 550 on paper-based exam
                   213 on computer-based exam
                   79 on IBT
