About: Usually Krista Tippett is asking the thoughtful questions of guests as diverse as Thich Nhat Hahn, Esther Sternberg, Desmond Tutu, Parker Palmer and Terry Tempest Williams. We have the chance to listen in and ask questions as Hamline professor Dr. Deanna Thompson interviews Tippett. The "art of living" is another way to talk about "practices of faith"--the being and doing of spiritual life that our world so desperately needs. Join us in listening to Tippett's journey from Speaking of Faith to On Being, and what Tippett has learned from scientists, artists and spiritual thinkers about improvisation and the mystery at the heart of being present to the world with all its flaws and failings.

About: Our young century is awash with urgent questions of survival, of meaning, of how we structure our common life and who we are to each other. And yet it seems we are more divided than ever before - unable to listen and speak across the differences we must engage to create the world we want for ourselves and our children. Krista Tippett's public radio show and podcast, On Being, brings a vast range of voices to the animating questions at the center of life: What does it mean to be human, and how do we want to live? Her Civil Conversations Project has focused these questions on public life, in practical terms, for communities from the deep south to Harvard Law School. In her lecture entitled, "Religious Life, Public Life, and the Adventure of Civility," Krista Tippett will speak with us about how we can all begin to create the conversations we want to be hearing, where we live.

Simulcast: The evening lecture at 7:00 PM will be simulcasted in Giddens Learning Center (GLC) 100E for overflow guests.
