    Training: Introduction to the Content Management System (CMS)

    Hamline University uses a Content Management System (CMS) called Ektron which enables all schools, offices and departments to easily create and update their sites and remain consistent with the Hamline brand. While the members of digital team are responsible for establishing new university webpages, it is up to individual content managers and members of the university faculty and staff to update and maintain them.

    As of January 2018 we began offering monthly entry-level training as an introduction to the Web Content Management System. The one-hour sessions will cover day-to-day tasks such as how to edit web content and how to create new web content. Training will be offered on an individual and group basis every third Thursday of each month.

    This training is required for all new website content managers, OR is available to anyone wishing for a CMS refresher.


    The one-hour session will cover:

    • How to login and access the page(s) you need to edit
    • Using the editing system
    • Adding images, links, text, documents
    • Creating new pages, site sections
    • Editing your side navigation and contact regions
