Hamline Remembers Dr. David Steele

It is with deep sadness that Hamline University announces the passing of Dr. David Steele.

David, who was director of Hamline’s Sponsored Programs Office, passed away suddenly on June 9 after a brief illness.

David was a valued member of the Hamline community. His quiet, but effective manner knew no equal. He was an extraordinary human being who embodied Hamline’s ethos – he truly lived to do all the good he could in all the ways he could. For that, we are eternally grateful to have worked with and known him.

Previous to his work at Hamline, Dr. Steele also worked at the University of St. Thomas and Macalester College.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Deb, and two daughters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 20 at St. Jude of the Lake, 700 Mahtomedi Avenue, Mahtomedi. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with the funeral Mass to follow at 11 o’clock.
