Inauguration Weekend Events Hamline

It's an historic weekend as Hamline University celebrates Inauguration Weekend for its 20th president Thursday, October 1 - Sunday, October 4 alongside events for Alumni Weekend and Homecoming.

Installation Ceremony

Friday, October 2
3 p.m.
Hutton Arena, Hamline University

Please join us for the formal Installation Ceremony of Hamline's 20th president. This event will include a full academic processional and an installation address. The arena will only be accessible through the doors on Hewitt Avenue which will open at 2:15 p.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis so it’s recommended you arrive early. Classes normally held at 3 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. are cancelled on Friday to give students and faculty the opportunity to attend. Everyone is encouraged to wear their Hamline gear and show off your Piper Pride. 

Seating is limited; on-site simulcast locations are available in Sundin Music Hall and Giddens Learning Center 100E.

Please note: There is construction along Snelling Avenue near campus. Please allow yourself extra time to get to the events.

The Fall Fest

Saturday, October 3 
11 a.m.-1 p.m. 
Anderson Center 

The Fall Fest is a fun celebration of the Hamline community. Students, alumni, families, faculty, staff, friends, and neighbors are invited to enjoy music and activities such as a bounce house, human gyroscope, caricature artists, balloon artists, henna, and more. Popcorn, frost-your-own cookies, and beverages will be provided.  The Marketplace, a gathering of Hamline artists, writers, and musicians, will be held in conjunction with the Fall Fest.  Artists will display and sell their work.

Please note: The southbound lanes of the Snelling Ave/Hwy. 51 bridge will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, October 2 through 4 a.m. Sunday, October 4. See detour information here. 
 
Worship Service with Inauguration Blessing

Sunday, October 4

Hamline Church - United Methodist 

Attend Sunday morning worship at Hamline Church, hear the Rev. Mariah Furness Tollgaard preach, witness the blessing of President Fayneese Miller, hear her response, and enjoy Hamline University’s A Cappella Choir. Join the congregation for a reception following the service. www.hamlinechurch.org
