Peterson Awarded Federal Grant 

Dr. Jillian Peterson, assistant professor of criminology and criminal justice and director of the Center for Justice and Law at Hamline, has been awarded a two-year grant of $300,000 from the U.S. Department of Justice to analyze the causes of mass shootings and to explore ways of preventing such tragedies in the future. She will continue her work developing a comprehensive database of mass shooters and interview incarcerated offenders as she attempts to understand individual psycho-social variables and community-level sociological factors that play a role in these crimes.
