DeVriese Awarded Faculty of the Year

Dr. Leila DeVriese was recently recognized by the Hamline Undergraduate Student Congress as the 2018 Faculty of the Year. Each year the Hamline Undergraduate Student Congress selects one faculty member to be honored as the Faculty and Staff Member of the Year. The award began so students could recognize and honor those that truly made a positive impact on their life and their time at Hamline.

At the awards ceremony held on Tuesday May 1, DeVriese was commended for going above and beyond for her students. She was described as a gentle professor whose rigorous courses and high expectations challenge her students to venture out of their comfort zones, to perform at the highest standard, and achieve their maximum potential. Her student nominators shared numerous examples of her character, strength, encouragement, passion, and leadership on campus.

DeVriese chairs and teaches in the Global Studies Department and directs the Model United Nations program. She is also the director of Global Engagement Center.
