Biography

Caroline Hilk serves as Assistant Provost for Student Success at Faculty Development at Hamline University. In this capacity she works in close collaboration with the Center for Teaching and Learning, Academic Advising, Academic Success, and University Honors. Prior to this role in the provost's office, Hilk was Director and Faculty Development Coordinator in the Center for Teaching and Learning.

Dr. Hilk has taught many online and face-to-face courses, including a first-year seminar at Hamline on creativity and innovation, as well as several courses in educational and cognitive psychology, human relations, human intelligence, and undergraduate general psychology. She received her BA from Saint Olaf College and her Masters and PhD from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Her research interests include effective approaches to team-based learning, development of social presence in online learning environments, and rubric-based measurement of student learning outcomes.
