Biography

Nur Mood is the Coordinator of Social Justice Initiatives and Strategic Relations, MENA Region at Hamline University. In this role, he advises the Student Today Leaders Forever and coordinates the Catalyst Alternative Break trips and Muslim Student Association. He also has international responsibilities with the President's strategic relations regarding the recruitment and retention of students from the Middle East and North Africa. He was born in Mogadishu, Somalia. He has previously lived in Cairo Egypt before immigrating to the United States in 2004. Nur has traveled to Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Jamaica, and Southeast Asia. He earned his BA in Applied Economics with a Minor in Finance from The College of Saint Scholastica, Duluth and is currently pursuing his MBA at Hamline University. Nur is the 2015 recipient of the Outstanding Staff Award from the Hedgemen Center for Student Diversity Initiatives at Hamline University. In 2016, he was inducted and became a lifetime member of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) Honor Society. He serves on the Student Affairs Professional Development Committee and is a Green Dot Trainer.
