As a teacher-scholar in a liberal arts college, Professor Akhavi-Pour strongly believes that knowledge about a discipline is inseparable from living and working environments. Thus, he believes teachers and educators have a duty to make sure that students have the academic knowledge that prepares them for meaningful careers. Having worked in a variety of countries during his career, Akhavi-Pour understands the commonality and diversity of intellectual discovery in learning.

"The classroom, I believe, should be a reflection of a dynamic and diverse global economic environment."
