Biography

Recognized as an outstanding performing recitalist, soloist, cello teacher and chamber music coach, Dr. Wang has performed extensively in concerts, recitals, and presented master classes throughout the United States and abroad. He has inspired audiences with his virtuosic, lyrical and colorful playing

Regarded as one of the most sought-after cello teachers, Dr. Wang maintains a busy teaching schedule, sharing his captivating cello playing with his students. Some of his students have been first-prize winners in many competitions, including Young People’s Symphony Concert Association, the Schubert Club, Thursday Musical, Minnesota Youth Symphonies, Great Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, and the Minnesota Sinfonia Young Artist Competition. Many of his students have been accepted to music conservatories and universities in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Hong Wang earned his Cello Performing Diploma from Fujian Province Arts School, Graduation Diploma in Cello Performance from Shanghai Conservatory, Master of Music in Cello Performance from the University of Kansas, and the Doctor of Musical Arts in Cello Performance from the University of Minnesota. His primary teachers include distinguished cellists Tanya Remenikova and Edward Laut.

Teaching Style

Students will get help for exploring the fundamentals of cello playing step by step, and enjoy challenges for new vision of musical arts.
