Scholarships
Undergraduate Teacher Education
The Jean J. Pinkerton Scholarship is awarded to a junior or a senior who will be student teaching, either as a senior or as a recent post-baccalaureate in the undergraduate program returning to Hamline for licensure. Recipients are chosen for outstanding academic achievement and a demonstrated passion for teaching.
The Betty Ruth Raygor Scholarship is awarded to an elementary education student who is regarded by his/her peers as having contributed significantly to the department by:
- Conscientiously meeting the demands of course work and other departmental requirements;
- Demonstrating the ability to relate to children and recognize their needs;
- Sharing ideas with peers and serving as an example for those peers;
- Showing creativity and understanding of the material being presented to children;
- Providing moral support for peers.
The Eliza A. Drew Prize in secondary education is awarded to a secondary education student who is regarded by his/her peers as having contributed significantly to the department by:
- Excelling academically and engaging in reflective thinking about teaching and learning;
- Upholding principles of multicultural education both in and out of class;
- Working effectively with students in clinical field experiences, and other teaching experiences;
- Exhibiting leadership and providing moral support to peers.
