• Scholarships for Initial Licensure/MAT Students

    Get a scholarship and become a teacher.

    Hamline School of Education understands the important role that scholarships serve in helping students finance their education. That's why we offer a limited number of scholarships for students admitted to the MAT program.
      

    Service Scholarships

    $500 per semester (up to $1,500 per year)

    Service Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate service to the following organizations: AmeriCorps (including Minnesota Reading Corps and Math Corps), the military, or the Peace Corps.

    Scholarships for aspiring teachers who are persons of color or American Indian

    $2,000 per semester (up to $18,000)

    Through a grant from the State of Minnesota that seeks to diversify the teaching force, Hamline University offers a limited number of scholarships to students of color admitted to the MAT program.

    Students awarded a scholarship receive $2,000 each semester (fall, spring, and summer) that they are enrolled in at least four credits. Awards may be renewed each year, up to three years, pending satisfactory academic progress and availability of grant funds.

    T.E.A.C.H. Grant

    The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program provides grants to Master of Arts in Teaching students who intend to teach full time in high-need subject areas for at least four years at schools that serve students from low-income families. You may be eligible to receive $8,000 for graduate study. Visit the Federal Student Aid TEACH Grant website for more information about the TEACH Grant Program.     Learning Partnership Discount

    As an employee of one of our Learning Partners, you are eligible to receive a 10% discount on tuition and a waiver of application and processing fees when you are newly enrolled in the Master of Arts in Teaching/Initial Licensure program.

    Alumni Discount

    Hamline alumni are eligible to receive a 10% tuition discount when they enroll in any School of Education master’s program.

    Note: Hamline University and the School of Education offer several scholarship and discount opportunities to help with the cost of tuition; some graduate scholarships and discounts may not be combined.
