Women's Studies Internships
The women’s studies major was one of the first majors at Hamline to require an internship. We encourage our students to integrate theory with practice and connect their academic study to the world outside the university. Internships provide students the opportunity to build skills, test career interests, gain confidence and obtain resume-building experience in their field of study; at the same time, internships benefit the community while providing unique opportunities for hands-on practical learning. All of this leads to greater success after graduation, and our graduates often have the opportunity of continuing paid employment with the organization where they completed their internship.
Internships require a minimum of 120 hours of work at the internship site. Internships can be completed on- or off-campus, during study-abroad semesters, or in some cases, in conjunction with other courses. Some students have even completed more than one internship – using those experiences as electives for the major or minor. Each semester, women’s studies receives a number of announcements for available internships. Contact the chair of women’s studies to learn more about internship opportunities.
