    Recent graduates from our music program are doing some amazing things! Read about their first steps after Hamline.

    Ruby Regan '20 (Minneapolis, MN), graduated with a Music Major (clarinet), minors in Education and Non-Profit Management and the TEFL Certificate. Ruby plans to teach abroad (once the pandemic is wrestled to the ground). Meanwhile she is working as a rehearsal assistant with Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, trying to navigate in person protocols earlier this fall and then the all online format now - really enjoying the position!

    Julia Kneen '20
    (Hastings, MN) graduated with a double major in Religion and Music (percussion). She is currently a member of multiple bands including indie rock, folk/ soft rock, and drums for multiple worship services. Her band, The Monty's, plans on releasing their first studio album in January 2021.

    Ann Marie Leimbach '20 (Saint Paul, MN) graduated with a double major in Music (flute and composition) and Creative Writing. She is starting her MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults at the New School in New York City.

    Kallysta Morgan '19 (Braham, MN) graduated with a major in Music and minor in Non-Profit Management. She is pursuing her Masters of Music in History and Literature at the University of Northern Colorado.

    David Mercer-Taylor '19  (St. Paul) graduated with a double major in Economics and Music (jazz guitar and composition). He will be entering a program in software engineering with the intention of going into web development. Continuing his creative work in music, he is working on compositions for an album of electronic music.

    Jeff Mund '19 (Lake City, MN) graduated with a double major in Music and Economics. For his senior project, he composed, performed (flute), and recorded his own jazz EP with a quartet of Hamline colleagues. In Spring 2019, he was accepted by the Peace Corps and moved to Benin, Africa, for the next few years.

    Ray Culp '18 (Lino Lakes, MN), Music Performance (Piano) and Physics, is employed by The Toro Company and plays trumpet for the Mankato Symphony. He is also pursuing a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Robotics at the University of Minnesota.

    Olivia Schiffman '17 (Hugo, MN) graduated with a major in English, History, and Music. Post-graduation she worked as a Historic Preservation Consultant for the City of Hugo, MN, after which she moved to California to work at the John Muir National Historic Site as an Education and Interpretation Intern. Olivia is currently a graduate student at the University of Oregon pursuing a Master of Science in Historic Preservation. When not studying she is learning the trade of historic wood window restoration. 

    Shay Behrends '17 (Ham Lake, MN), Music Performance (voice), is studying Vocal Performance in a highly selective Master's degree program at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.

    Martha McDermott '16 (Austin, MN), Music Performance (violin) and Psychology, is employed at People Incorporated and Fein Violins and plays violin in multiple Twin Cities orchestras. She is pursuing a dream to have a dual license in music therapy and clinical counseling and has applied to the Music Therapy program at the U of MN.

    Danielle Jagelski '16 (Lewiston, ID), Music Performance (voice), is pursuing a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting after spending a year in Amsterdam studying conducting and piano, singing in a jazz combo and working as a nanny.

    Melissa Thompson '16 (Iva, SC), Music Performance (voice) and Religion, works for Opportunity Partners in Minnetonka, MN, where she teaches adult special education and frequently uses music in her work.

    Tyler Stahl '16 (Minneapolis, MN), Musical Arts, works as a Coordinator at Orion Associates, pursuing his interest in social services. Outside of work, he sings in a small ensemble called Chamber Singers and the 180 member Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus, performing in a series of concerts and events in the area.

    Eva Coon '16 (St. Paul, MN), Musical Arts, is teaching violin lessons, coaching a violin ensemble and working at Evla Pottery in West St. Paul. She continues violin studies with Ray Shows of the Artaria Quartet.

    Megan Thompson '15 (St. Paul, MN), Music Performance (composition) and Business Management, is currently manager of Surdyk’s Cheese Shop in Minneapolis.

    Alyssa Skinner '15 (Parker, CO), Musical Arts and Spanish, is employed in financial services at Bouley in Eden Prairie, MN.

    Martin List-Tesdell '15 (St. Paul, MN), Music Performance (composition) and Anthropology, is a member of several bands; he is composing and working at Barnes and Noble in St. Paul.

    Andrew Brady '15, (Chaska, MN) Musical Arts (composition) and Communications, attended the Berklee College of Music for the Master’s in Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games, in Valencia, Spain. He is currently composing on commission.

    Alyse Emmanuel '15, (Minneapolis, MN), Musical Arts (Honors), Art, and Religion, is teaching at the Women’s Drum Center and She Rock She Rock. She is teaching a mosaic workshop at Mercury Mosaics and painting up a storm, with a current show at Claddagh Coffee. Alyse is drumming in four bands and plans to do more composing in the future.

    Enrique Ortega '14 (Sioux Falls, SD), Musical Arts and History, is employed as a software engineer with Calabrio in Minneapolis.

    Savannah Dotson '14 (Minneapolis, MN), Musical Arts and History, is employed as a software engineer in Minneapolis.

    Courtney Cline '14 (Battle Lake, MN), Music Performance (voice) and Elementary Education, is teaching kindergarten at Folwell Performing Arts Magnet, Minneapolis.

    Haley Rheinhart, '12 (Wayzata, MN), Musical Arts and minor in Linguistics, taught English in South Korea after graduation. She is now back Minnesota working with MPR’s “The Current” and the Minnesota Orchestra’s development office. She is playing violin in the Linden Hills Chamber Orchestra.

    Kelby Brandanger '12 (Burnsville, MN), Music and Education, teaches, freelances and is a member of various bands in the Twin Cities.

    Michael Kemmitt '12 (Osseo, MN) Music Performance (composition), attended U of MN Law School and currently works with Fields Law Firm as a Disabilities Attorney.

    Ross Hackenmiller '11 (Mantorville, MN) Musical Arts and Religion, is a freelance musician and teacher in St. Paul, part-time music outreach coordinator for Hamline United Methodist Church.

    Nikita Schanzenbach '10 (St. Paul, MN) Music Performance (voice), works for Great Plains Institute nonprofit, sings in the Chorale at St. Agnes Catholic Church and Minnesota Chorale, assists with the MacPhail Music and Memory program. Nikita will be pursuing graduate work in Social Work with a focus on clinical art therapy and policy.

    Liz Hauck '09 (Mendota Heights, MN) Music Performance (flute), has recently been promoted to Sales Strategist for the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.

    Paul Sawyer '08 (St. Paul, MN) Music Performance (clarinet) and Political Science-Public Service, is employed as the Facilities Services Manager for the Science Museum of Minnesota and is a leader in local political organizations.

    Stacy Dimapelis '08 (St. Paul, MN), Musical Arts and Psychology, earned a Master’s in Music and Women’s and Gender Studies from Brandeis University. She is currently working as a Supervisor in the Access Management Department, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA.

    Elissa (Green) Weller '04 (Stillwater, MN), Music Performance (flute) and Political Science, works for VocalEssence as their Grants and Special Events Manager.
