• German Certificate of Proficiency

Students who have begun the study of German before coming to Hamline may enter the program at a level consistent with their ability. All students must, however, take 3900 and 3910 at Hamline and receive a B- or better in both.

  • The Modern Languages department offers the Certificate of Proficiency in German to students who wish to acquire communication skills and cultural awareness for basic professional purposes. Earning the Certificate typically means taking two specific advanced language courses at Hamline and passing them with a grade of B- or better. Once the Certificate has been awarded, it becomes a permanent part of the student’s academic record.

If you have any questions about the Certificate of Proficiency in German, please contact the MODL department chair.
