The German Studies program at Hamline University prides itself on combining the rich tradition and history of the German-speaking regions with the demands of a modern and globalized world. Any student at Hamline, regardless of major or minor, may take courses in German and participate in cultural activities in and out of the classroom.

Students may major or minor in German at the present time, though course selection is limited due to the likely phase-out of the German program at Hamline. Students will be advised to enroll in German courses at Augsburg University, Macalester College, or the University of St. Thomas through Hamline’s ACTC affiliation. Course transfers from study abroad programs may also be used to meet requirements of the German major, with approval.
