    5th Annual Hamline University Freeze Fest

    Hamline University is hosting its fourth annual Freeze Fest, a one-day high school mock trial competition on Saturday, December 15, 2018. This event is a meant to be a learning experience and provide a fun opportunity for teams to compete before winter break.


    To register, email Kelly Rodgers at krodgers01@hamline.eduWe will allow up to 40 teams, and registration is on a first come, first served basis. The cost is $10 per team.

    Tentative Schedule

    • 8 a.m.: coaches/judges meeting
    • 8:30 a.m.: Round 1
    • 11 a.m.: lunch break
    • 12:00 p.m.: Round 2
    • 2:45 p.m.: Round 3
    • 5:30 p.m. or ASAP: awards

    Team Pairings 

    • Round 1: random pairings and side assignments
    • Round 2: pairings based on record and point differential/teams will switch sides of the case
    • Round 3: Championship Round 
      • Top four teams will compete, but the rest of the teams will have the option to compete in a third round if they decide to do so
      • Pairings will be done in the same fashion as Round 2

    3. Cumulative points earned
    4. Round 3 point differential
    5. Coin flip


    Judge Requirement

    Teams are required to provide the following number of judges available for each round:

    • 1–2 teams: one judge per round
    • 3–4 teams: two judges per round
    • 5+ teams: three judges per round

    Lunch options on campus include Starbucks, Subway, and the cafeteria. Because it may be busy and there is not a lot of time between rounds, we suggest that students pack a lunch or you order delivery.
