Recommended Curriculum
One of the advantages of a liberal-arts education is the diverse set of courses you must take as a part of your general education requirements. At Hamline University, the general education requirements are defined by the Hamline Plan. The Hamline Plan requires students to take a number of courses both in and outside their major to help them develop several goal-oriented skills in such areas as writing, speaking, computing, and cultural awareness. Many of the skills the Hamline Plan helps students develop are also Valued Characteristics of Graduates by employers, the foundation of the HIPAL program. Below is a list of current Hamline course offerings that HIPAL students are recommended to take to meet their Hamline Plan requirements, Breadth of Study requirements, and help them develop the characteristics that employers and professional/graduate schools value. Please note that the day and time these courses are offered may change from semester to semester. Check the day/time courses are offered in Piperline to ensure they do not conflict with HIPAL meetings.
