    Young Writers Workshop

    Write. Learn. Share. Connect.

A Creative Writing Day Camp for Ages 15-18

    JUNE 18-21, 2018

The Hamline Young Writers Workshop is a chance for high school students who are passionate about creative writing to explore the craft, prepare for college, connect with other young writers in the Twin Cities, and work closely with Hamline Creative Writing faculty and published authors.

Our schedule provides four extended days on our beautiful St. Paul campus, during which students will:

    • Receive in-depth instruction/time with a published author in poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, or writing the college essay each day.
    • Participate in afternoon elective courses in specific creative writing topics or college essay preparedness.
    • Explore our "Literary Twin Cities" on a field-trip.
    • Strengthen their sense of literary study and career paths through a panel discussion with published authors.
    • Inspire their confidence as writers through a concluding community reading.

    Financial Assistance

Limited financial assistance will be available in the form of partial credit towards full tuition. Funding for this assistance is provided by the College of Liberal Arts of Hamline University. To qualify, please apply when registering. Financial Assistance applications must be completed online by April 15, 2018.
Additionally, we encourage students to look for additional assistance through their local HS guidance counseling services; often times local businesses, and organizations, even churches offer funding/scholarships to attend academic or creative camps and the guidance counselors may be a resource to request such funding.

Registration is online and requires information from both the student and parent, so it is best completed together. Please register before applying for financial assistance. All post-registration correspondence will be via email (valid email address required).

Registration will open in mid-February 2018.
