• Course Requirements - Computational Data Science

    Students interested in computational data science can pursue either a major (Bachelor of Science) or a minor. Both options will prepare you with in-demand knowledge and skills to lead in any field as a data scientist.

    Major Requirements

    Required Courses

    • CDS 1010: Introduction to Programming¬†
    • CDS 1020: Introduction to Computational Data Science
    • CDS 3200: Elements of Statistical Learning
    • MATH 3440: Discrete Mathematics
    • QMBE 3740: Data Mining
    • QMBE 3750: Data Management and Communication
    • CDS 5010: Capstone

    One statistics courses selected from:

    • MATH 1200: Statistics
    • QMBE 1310: Statistics

    Elective Courses

    You must choose three courses that count toward an existing minor at Hamline that are distinct from the required courses above. One of the courses you elect must be at the 3000-level or above.

    All elective courses must be completed before enrolling in the final capstone course.
