    Janee Harteau

    Chief of Police, Minneapolis Police Department

    Harteau, Janee1

    Janee Harteau joined the MPD in 1987 and worked her way through the ranks to become Inspector of the First Precinct, Assistant Chief in 2010, and Deputy Chief of the Patrol Bureau where she was responsible for all Minneapolis Police Department 911 response personnel and the department’s emergency services units before becoming Chief of Police in 2012. Chief Harteau holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Police Science and a Master of Arts in Public Safety Administration, both from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. She trains law enforcement leaders nationally for Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety and is an Assistant Professor at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in the School of Police Science. She is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute of Police in Boston, MA, and the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety’s Police Staff and Command School where she was the Franklin Kreml Leadership Award winner.

    Beth Weatherby

    Provost, Southwest Minnesota State University

    Beth Weatherby is the Provost at Southwest Minnesota State University, a rural public liberal arts institution in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System. Before being appointed as Provost in 2007, Dr. Weatherby was the Dean of the College of Arts, Letters & Sciences for five years. Weatherby joined the SMSU faculty in 1992 as Associate Professor of English and Director of the Creative Writing Program, where she co-founded the SMSU Women's Studies Program. Her awards include a Loft-McKnight Artist Fellowship in Creative Prose, a Salzburg Global Seminar Fellowship, and the Minnesota Book Award for her book of short stories, Small Invasion. She has presented on leadership and institutional transformation at numerous conferences for faculty, higher education administrators and staff, and community leaders. She received her Doctor of Arts in English and Creative Writing from the University of New York at Albany and her B.S. in Journalism from Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois.

    Diane Tran

    Founder, Minnesota Rising

    Diane Tran manages electoral and advocacy projects at Grassroots Solutions, a national consulting firm specializing in grassroots strategy, organizing, training, and evaluation. Previously, Diane coordinated a local public health advocacy campaign to advance the Freedom to Breathe Act of 2007. She serves as Treasurer on the board of directors for the Citizens League, was named one of Ten Outstanding Young Minnesotans in 2008 by the Minnesota Junior Chamber, and served as a 2006-2007 Humphrey Institute Policy Fellow. Diane earned a self-designed bachelor’s degree in International Social Policy with a double major in Humanities at the College of St. Scholastica. She leads a network of emerging leaders in Minnesota and blogs about active citizenship and the millennial generation at www.MinnesotaRising.org.

    Brenda Norman

    State Director of Workforce Planning and Employee Development, Minnesota Management and Budget

    Brenda Norman is the state director for Workforce Planning and Employee Development in Minnesota. She is a systems change leader, specializing in leadership and organization development. Her work includes experience across private sector, higher education, and the public sector. Most recently, Brenda’s work at MMB has transformed the Enterprise Learning and Development program for the state; generating increased programming, employee and agency participation and revenue growth. Brenda earned her doctorate in Organization Learning & Development and her MA in Human Development at the University of St. Thomas.

    Nancy Weidenfeller has an extensive background in organization development, talent management, human resource systems design, and women enterprise leaders. Nancy is a specialist in team dynamics and performance, organizational effectiveness, leading change, and the strategic role of HR. She has worked with leaders from diverse organizations and a variety of industries including energy, food, financial services, chemicals, health care, manufacturing, medical devices, and retail. She holds a Doctorate of Education in organization development, University of St. Thomas; M.A. in organizational leadership, College of St. Catherine and a B.A. in business/HR management, certificate in psychology, Adler Institute. Nancy is also a Certified Senior Professional Human Resources Practitioner for Life and Adjunct instructor, Hamline University and the University of St. Thomas.

    Laura Kushner is the Director of HR & Benefits for the League of Minnesota Cities. Her department coordinates HR training and answers questions from cities on all types of employment issues. Laura has more than 20 years of public sector experience in human resources, including her work at the cities of Roseville, Crystal and Maple Grove. Her Master’s Degree is in Public Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

    Terese Corey Blanck

    Terese Corey Blanck is a national leading expert in entry-level talent management. Terese educates audiences through her keynote speeches and trainings nation-wide. She has served as an expert for the New York Times, Monster and other local and national media outlets. Terese has spent a decade working with two specialty niche firms creating innovative proprietary programs aimed at managing and developing top entry-level talent to positively impact business results. In 2002, she launched Emerging Advantage, Inc. with her partner Judy Anderson to maximize the performance of recent college graduates navigating their first workplace experiences. Terese earned her M.Ed. in College Student Development from Colorado State University.

    Kendra Brodin

    Kendra Brodin is the Director of Career and Professional Development at the University of St. Thomas School of Law. Kendra earned a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree with honors from the University of Minnesota. Kendra is a life and career coach, as well as a law firm and organizational consultant on topics related to personal and professional development, generational differences, and retention of top female talent.

    Becky Roloff

    President and CEO, YWCA of Minneapolis

    Becky Roloff has led the YWCA of Minneapolis since August of 2005, after 29 years of corporate executive and philanthropic leadership experience including senior vice president with American Express Financial Advisors – now Ameriprise Financial – where she was a member of the senior leadership team. She currently serves on the board of directors of C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc, Allina Health and the Alliss Educational Foundation. She has chaired the boards of The Blake School, the Children’s Theatre Company and St. Catherine University. She is a graduate of St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota and holds a MBA with distinction from the Harvard Business School.

    Elizabeth B. Kautz

    Mayor of Burnsville, Minnesota

    Elizabeth B. Kautz is currently serving her seventh term as Mayor of Burnsville, Minnesota, having first gained office in 1994. She recently served as President of United States Conference of Mayors and is a Trustee of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. She is Chairperson for the Council of Regents’ St. Mary’s University, serves on the Board of Directors for Greater MSP and for the Local Government Advisory Committee to the EPA Administrator. She Co-founded the Minnesota Regional Council of Mayors and represents Burnsville on numerous local, regional, state, and national boards. Mayor Kautz received her Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology from the Alfred Adler Institute of Chicago and was awarded an undergraduate degree in Theology with a psychology focus from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Mayor Kautz was one of the first women to serve as a Professional Minister within the Catholic Church as Pastoral Minister.

    Dr. Kathleen Annette

    Dr. Kathleen Annette, president and CEO of Blandin Foundation, is a recognized leader at local, regional and national levels. A lifelong resident of rural Minnesota, Kathy is enrolled with the White Earth Band of Ojibwe. She received her medical and undergraduate degrees from the University of Minnesota, the first Minnesota Ojibwe woman to become a physician. During her 26-year career with Indian Health Service, Kathy oversaw 48 hospitals, 238 health clinics, and 15,000 employees. She received two Presidential Meritorious Awards and a Presidential Distinguished Service Award. Kathy served as a Blandin Foundation board member and is an alumnus of the first Blandin Reservation Community Leadership Program.

    Susan Palchick

    Director, Hennepin County Public Health

    Susan Palchick is the Public Health Director for Hennepin County. She has worked for Hennepin County since 1996 in a variety of positions in public health. Public health runs the gamut from investigations of infectious diseases and restaurant inspections to emergency response and public health clinics. She has a Ph.D. in Medical Entomology from University of California-Davis, MPH in Epidemiology from University of California-Berkeley and MS in Entomology from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to working for Hennepin County she was a manager for Metropolitan Mosquito Control District.

    Kelly Tanzer

    Kelly Tanzer is a senior HR manager with Hennepin County Human Resources. She has over 30 years of public sector human resources experience working in multiple areas of the HR field including Staffing, Learning and Development, and HR Administration. She has been at the forefront of developing Hennepin County’s competency model, leadership development programs and a succession planning pilot program. She has a Masters degree in Human Resources from the Carlson School at the University of Minnesota, and a Human Resources Manager Certificate from the University of MN, and has served as President of the International Public Managers Association of MN.

    Roberta "Bobbi" Cordano

    Vice President of Programs, Wilder Foundation

    Roberta “Bobbi” Cordano is Vice President of Programs at Wilder Foundation. She was President of Park Nicollet Institute, Assistant Dean at the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Public Affairs, Director of Disability Services, Assistant Attorney General, and founding member of Metro Deaf School and Minnesota North Star Academy. Bobbi was raised in a deaf family and speaks American Sign Language. She graduated with honors from Beloit College and received her law degree from University of Wisconsin Law School.

    Loudi Rivamonte

    Recreation Supervisor, City of Eagan

    Loudi Rivamonte is Recreation Supervisor for Parks at the City of Eagan, Minnesota. She has been the Co-Executive Director for the Center for Cross Cultural Health and served on the United Way Cultural Dynamics Committee. She is a Co-creator of Culture Brokers Improving Healthcare Interactions Training Series and is an Intercultural Development Inventory certified administrator. Loudi is a gifted consultant focused on diversity, cultural competency and inclusion for organizations throughout the Twin Cities region.

    Bao Vang

    Bao Vang is President of the Hmong American Partnership. She grew the organization from $3 million to over $7 million and increased staff from 40 to over 126 employees. Under her leadership, HAP received the MN DHS Commissioner Award for Outstanding Contributions in the Human Services area. Bao was named one of "The 100 Most Influential People" by Minneapolis/Saint Paul Magazine and "The 75 Most Influential People in Minnesota" by Minnesota Monthly.
