    High School Competition

CANCELED: 2nd Annual Hamline University Data Analytics Competition

Unfortunately, the 2019 competition has been canceled. The numerous weather-related school closings combined with block schedule final exams has interfered with participation this year. We do plan to hold a competition next year. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

There is no fee and the number of teams will be limited.

    Team Requirements

Teams consist of three or four students. It is suggested each team have a faculty advisor to help the team approach the data and keep the team focused.

    Competition Format

This is a two-phase competition that requires the team to analyze and glean insight into a specific data set. Initial data will be available mid-February. Teams will work on their own prior to the competition date and bring a poster or presentation deck (such as a PowerPoint) to the event to share their findings.

Teams use their poster or presentation to present their finding to the judges in round 1. Teams will have approximately 10 minutes to present and answer questions from the judges. There will be an initial score based on round 1.

Teams will then be given an additional related set of data to further analyze. They present their new findings and conclusions. The judges determine the final scores.
