Blackboard at Hamline What is Blackboard? Blackboard Learn is a learning management system that can be used for supplementation of face-to-face instruction as well as for hybrid and online courses. It contains spaces for content to be stored, as well as many tools to help enrich the learning experience. View the tutorial to learn more about Your Course Environment. Setting Up Your Hamline Blackboard Course All Blackboard courses are based on a standard template. Courses are created 90 days before the start of the new term. It is recommended that at a minimum, you add your contact information, post your syllabus, and make the course available to your students. It is highly encouraged that you explore and utilize the tools that Blackboard have to offer to provide your students with a more engaging and enriching experience. Copying Your Blackboard 9.1 Course Blackboard gives you the ability to copy course content and settings from one Blackboard Learn course into another one. For example, if you have a course you teach repeatedly, you can copy the content, tools, settings, etc. into future courses. This PDF tutorial will help guide you through the process of copying your courses. We strongly recommend that you request a development course shell that can be used as a master course to retain your Blackboard course content. Making Your Course Available in Blackboard When you finish preparing your Blackboard courses for the next term, you will need to make them available to your students. Please follow the instructions below: Navigate to your course. In the bottom-left side of the course page, within the "Control Panel" click on the "Customization" Link. In the sub menu, click on "Properties" link. On the next page, find step 3, "Set Availability." Select "Yes" for the option "Make Course Available." Click on the "Submit" button. Need Help?
