Re: Managing Ibidem Note-Taking Files

To change the default name of new notetaking files, click the "File
Defaults" button in the "Links: Insert/Edit" dialog, during the process
of creating a new notetaking file. The file defaults dialog gives you
a good deal of flexibility in naming these files (though I wish there
were an option for using "Subsequent Cite Title" in the file name, for
brevity's sake).

I don't think there's any automated way to rename old notetaking files
while keeping the link intact: you'd have to rename each file, and
edit each link accordingly. In the Nota Bene of our dreams, there
might be a way to manage all links and file names centrally, to update
them universally, etc., but that day is well beyond the horizon.

As it stands, renaming old note files would be more trouble than it's
worth (especially if you also have links to note files within other
documents). I've left the old note files with their original names,
while customizing the defaults to give new ones more useful names.
There's no rule that says that all your note files need to use the same
naming conventions.

Best,

Rob Harper
