I complained about this in (IIRC) v.6 and was told by the list to learn to
live with it.  You could write a script to abandon the automatic document,
but that's about the best you could do.

Hello,
I've noticed that v8 always wants to have an "untitled" document open
regardless of my wishes. Have any of the folks working with v8 learned to
force it to have no documents opened, untitled or otherwise? This includes
having it start with a blank (empty, no document) screen.
